What guitar should I buy?

I've been looking around for a while online and I can't decide what guitar to buy. Currently I play a Fender Starcaster that I got from Best Buy and I feel that it's time for an upgrade because I've been playing guitar for about 4 1/2 years. I don't really have a budget but I'd like to stay around $5000 or less. If it helps, I mostly play rock and pop songs and mainly use a Peavey Vypyr amp but don't perform that often.
