If a father mortgage a house and is unable to repay that load,will his son is liable to pay the amount?

i am married and have a 17 yrs old son.i am seperated(not divorced) from my husband since 6month .we used to live in a house which was on the name of my mother in law.and nw we are seperated he wants to morgage that house and ask for a loan.will my son be liable to pay the loan if my husband is unable to repay it back.can my son or me put a stay on that mortgage loan application.
