My thumbs get swollen every time i touch something cold... is this normal?

when i hold something cold all my fingers swell up and become very fat. It does feel great because i cant really move them and they are rock solid. The swelling stays for about 20-30 minutes. I have gotten told that maybe i have a circulation problem in my hands but that was by a family member. If you know y this happens or whats wrong please tell me... i hope its nothing bad.. thanks for the help!! :D
