Help with choosing a bass guitar?

I would like a new bass guitar and i have seen a few but im not sure which make is best. The makes i have seen are westfield, epiphone and shine. I am deciding between a SG style bass copy or a Paul McCartney violin bass copy. Which make and model would you suggest and why? I have also been playing for 2 years if that helps and currently have a 5 string peavey international series which i do not plan to sell and i have not got a problem when it comes to worrying about how much they cost.
