Getting a clean tone?

I recently purchased a epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul and a Peavey 6505+ combo amp. I am having a hard time getting a decent sounding clean tone. Is there some kind of effect pedal such as an eq or chorus that I can use to clean it up?
